Jean-Luc Thunevin
Jean-Luc Thunevin has become "a star" in the world of wine in less than a decade thanks to his very famous "Château Valandraud". It was probably during a tasting of Le Pin, a Pomerol from a small vineyard, that he had the desire to make an exceptional wine. Thanks to his passion for wine, his determination and his determination, he fulfilled his wish with the first vintage in 1991 of Château Valandraud. This year marks the beginning of a great adventure and a meteoric success. He becomes the inspirer and initiator of many other garage wines. All these microcuvées resulting from low yields produce concentrated wines. It is Murielle, his wife, who supervises herself the most meticulous care given to the vines: size adapted to each foot, systematic stripping, green harvesting to voluntarily limit the number clusters per foot. For his part, Jean-Luc seeks the optimal maturity of the grapes to start the harvest; he has also adopted the Burgundy techniques of pigeage and sticking on the lees to obtain an optimal concentration. The wines are produced in a constant preoccupation of excellence and reveal themselves voluminous and ripe.

The “Bad Boy” of Bordeaux himself, Jean Luc Thunevin, will be here to present a vertical of his Saint Emilion superstar Château Valandraud. Through the perspective of eight vintages, the story began as a “garage wine” unfolds, from its iconoclastic debut to its grand cru classification and establishment in the top league of wines from Bordeaux's right bank.
